SACAA ADS-B Out Mandate: Where It Stands and What Operators Need to Do

A clear, factual update on the SACAA ADS-B Out mandate, following the publication of AIC 010/2024 on 26 December 2024.

Today

Since 12 June 2025, RVSM and Class A airspace require ADS-B Out compliance. The regulation flows from SA-CAR 91.05.1(4) and Regulation 91.05.5, with the technical detail in SA-CATS 91.05.5. Operators flying in those airspaces without ADS-B Out are no longer compliant.

Next

The same AIC confirms that ADS-B Out for Class C airspace will be introduced through a phased approach, with implementation "not anticipated to occur before 2027". The exact date is still being determined through the National Airspace Committee (NASCOM) process.

What this means in practice

If you operate in Class A or RVSM, the airspaces you fly are already gated by ADS-B Out. Getting compliant is what restores full, unrestricted access.

If you operate in Class C, you have time on your side — but as the 2027 indicative date approaches, equipment lead times and installation capacity across the country will tighten. Booking now means choosing your date, not waiting in the queue.

Why Aeronautical Aviation

We have been part of the South African ADS-B conversation since the original AIC. Our CEO, Clinton Carroll, is an aircraft owner and pilot — every installation is followed by personal pilot familiarisation on the new equipment, on the ground and in the air. You leave understanding your panel, not just signed off on it.

As a Garmin Platinum dealer and the largest accredited distributor of Garmin in Africa, and the only certified Dynon dealer in South Africa, we install and certify ADS-B Out solutions across piston singles, twins, and turbine aircraft from our SACAA-approved AMO at Lanseria International Airport.

Next step

If you would like a quotation for your aircraft, contact us with your aircraft registration and a short note on your current avionics. We will have a tailored quotation and a provisional installation slot back to you within two working days.
