AeroLEDs has just launched the NANO Beacon — a remarkably compact, high-output LED anti-collision light for aircraft and platforms where space, weight, and power are all at a premium. As an AeroLEDs dealer, we now stock it, and it is a neat solution for a specific set of applications.
Important, up front: the NANO Beacon is an experimental-use product. It does not hold FAA certification or approval, it is not approved for use on certified aircraft, and it is not recommended for night flight operations. It is intended for experimental and non-certified applications — please read the suitability note below before considering one.
What it is
The NANO Beacon packs high-intensity anti-collision output into an extremely small, low-profile housing — roughly 1.58 inches square and under 40 grams. That compact footprint is the whole point: it fits in locations a conventional beacon simply cannot go, which opens up mounting options on experimental aircraft, rotorcraft, and UAV/UAS platforms where every gram and every square inch counts.
It draws very little power — a fraction of an amp in normal operation — so it can be added with minimal impact on the electrical system, whether as a primary anti-collision light on a small platform or as a ground-recognition or auxiliary visibility light.
Options
- Colour: available in red or white configurations
- Housing finish: durable powder-coated black or silver, to blend with the aircraft exterior
- Voltage: versions for both 14 VDC and 28 VDC electrical systems
As part of the AeroLEDs NANO Series, the Beacon is designed to complement the NANO Wingtip lights and can be synchronised with them for a consistent lighting appearance across the aircraft — worth considering if you are planning a full NANO-series lighting fit rather than a single light.
Who it is for
Because it is an experimental-use product with no FAA certification, the NANO Beacon suits:
- Experimental and homebuilt aircraft
- Rotorcraft and UAV/UAS platforms in non-certified use
- Ground-recognition or auxiliary-visibility roles
It is not a fit for certified aircraft, and it is not recommended as a primary anti-collision light for night operations. If you fly a certified aircraft or need a certified anti-collision solution, talk to us — we will point you to the right approved product instead.
