Cessna Citation Excel and XLS flight deck upgrades

MODERN, RELIABLE ZERO-TIME AVIONICS

Our G5000 flight deck upgrade offers the most intuitive and robust pilot interface ever seen in this class of avionics equipment. It also reduces the cost required to maintain older avionics, breathing new life and capability into the airframe.

Large format flight displays with touchscreen controllers

COMPLETE FLIGHT DISPLAY SOLUTION

Combining three landscape-oriented 14” flight displays with two intuitive touchscreen controllers that serve as the primary crew interface for the system, the G5000 flight deck puts a wealth of capability at pilots’ fingertips.

The wide-format flight displays can function in split-screen mode, allowing multiple pages (or reversionary PFD/MFD) to be viewed side by side on the same screen. With this capability, pilots can configure panels to simultaneously view maps, charts, checklists, terrain, traffic, weather, video input and more, without cluttering or compromising the clean visual layout. Plus, all engine indications and crew alerting messages are integrated into the flight deck, providing crews with better awareness to critical operating parameters. For XLS+ and XLS Gen2 owners, two GI 275 electronic flight instruments can be used as standby ADIs.

G5000 allows access to more airports and lower approach minimums throughout the world with PBN/RNP 0.3 with LPV approach capability. And it includes a fully integrated ADS-B “Out” solution and more.

Plus, new Garmin systems — including a modern, digital Garmin AHRS, GRA™ 5500 radar altimeter and GTS™ 8000 TCAS/ACAS II — address third-party product obsolescence for these aircraft.

Upgrade your autopilot capabilities in Cessna Citation Excel and XLS aircraft with G5000.

ADVANCED AUTOPILOT

The G5000 integrated flight deck includes a fully digital, dual-channel, fail-passive automatic flight control system (AFCS). Providing optimized performance throughout your aircraft’s flight envelope, the system supports a wide range of capabilities that include coupled LPV approaches, vertical navigation, flight level change and other sophisticated flight monitoring and performance features. In addition, the AFCS supports Garmin emergency descent mode in the event of a loss of cabin pressurization as well as underspeed protection, which allows the autopilot to assist with airspeed management — while also enabling fully coupled go-arounds.

CPDLC support for FAA Data Comm and Eurocontrol Link 2000+

DATA COMM CAPABLE

G5000 supports CPDLC, including the FAA Data Comm and Eurocontrol Link 2000+ programs, for faster departure clearance — as well as en route exchange of data link messages with air route traffic control centers in the U.S. Additionally, datalink message recording capability is available with an optional CVR.

Advanced moving-map display with FliteCharts, SafeTaxi diagrams and compatible with Jeppeson ChartView

TERRAIN AND CHARTS

In addition to the standard terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS)-A terrain alerting, G5000 comes with integrated terrain, obstacles and navigation databases to provide a comprehensive moving-map navigation display. Along with this, georeferenced FliteCharts® and SafeTaxi® diagrams come preloaded on the system. Or, optionally, ChartView™ service is available for those who prefer georeferenced Jeppesen® charts.

High definition digital radar capabilities with GWX 75

WEATHER RADAR

GWX™ 8000 StormOptix™ weather radar with auto mode provides a more complete picture of weather, eliminating the requirement to manually adjust the radar. This results in easier weather interpretation and more simplified operation. The GWX 8000 StormOptix weather radar includes hail and lightning detection and is available with a predictive windshear warning system.

Traffic Alerting

TRAFFIC ALERTING

Our fully TCAS II/ACAS II Change 7.1 compliant GTS 8000 traffic system uses patented CLEAR CAS technology to correlate active and ADS-B “In” traffic and pinpoint threats. Optional ADS-B traffic displays with TargetTrend™ relative motion tracking on the MFD, giving pilots a faster, more intuitive way of judging closure rates and trajectories for these aircraft.

This ADS-B data is also analyzed by Runway Occupancy Awareness (ROA) technology, which alerts crews of potential runway incursions with nearby aircraft, aircraft on the ground, and ground vehicles.

Global Connectivity

GLOBAL CONNECTIVITY

With Connext® global datalink services, you can receive worldwide satellite weather coverage, voice calling, and email and text messaging. Additionally, SiriusXM® satellite weather and audio entertainment links are incorporated into the upgrade1.

Wireless cockpit connectivity via Flight Stream 510 (sold separately)

WIRELESS COCKPIT

Use Connext technology via Flight Stream 510 (sold separately) to stream weather, traffic and more between the G5000 flight deck and your compatible Garmin portables or mobile devices running the Garmin Pilot™ or FltPlan Go apps. Plus, save time by creating your flight plan on your mobile device, then wirelessly uploading it to G5000 during preflight.

Additionally, using a 4G LTE cellular or Wi-Fi ® connection provided by the optional GDL® 60 datalink, Garmin’s PlaneSync™ connected aircraft management system2 will automate database updates, provide real-time remote aircraft status3 and automatically transmit flight log and engine data to the cloud after landing1.

ADVANCED CAPABILITIES, GREATER AWARENESS

G5000 also expands the aircraft’s capabilities with situational awareness tools that streamline cockpit operations and enhance flight safety.

GARMIN SVT™ TECHNOLOGY

Optional Garmin synthetic vision technology uses sophisticated graphics modeling to create a 3-D “virtual reality” landscape on the flight display — showing terrain, obstacles, traffic and runway environments in graphical perspective. So, pilots can easily visualize the flight cues they would be seeing through the windshield on a clear day — even when flying at night or in IMC. Garmin SVT works seamlessly to alert pilots of potential ground hazards by displaying terrain and obstacles that might pose a threat along with appropriate TAWS alert coloring and voice alerts.

RUNWAY CALCULATIONS

The optional takeoff/landing data (TOLD) function calculates required V-speeds, runway lengths and power settings. Data entry is simplified as G5000 automatically populates airport and runway information from the flight plan as well as winds, temperatures and barometric pressure information from onboard weather. In the event that takeoff or landing parameters are exceeded, a warning is populated on the primary flight display (PFD). Additionally, a TOLD Consistency Monitor within G5000 routinely monitors aircraft configuration, such as flap setting, to ensure the crew is operating within the parameters selected. Plus, the Load Emergency Return function can be used to quickly load origin data for a return to land scenario.

INCURSION AVOIDANCE

Optional SurfaceWatch™ runway monitoring technology complements TOLD calculations to provide indications and alerts designed to help prevent pilots from taking off or landing on the wrong runway, a runway that is too short or a taxiway. It also displays the remaining runway distance information on the PFD during the takeoff roll and landing rollout, and on approach, the system will provide a “check runway” annunciation if the aircraft is aligned with the wrong runway.

SMOOTHER APPROACHES

Stabilized approach monitoring provides an additional layer of redundancy and protection. While on approach, G5000 monitors the aircraft to ensure it’s operated in a stabilized manner. Aural annunciations — such as “speed,” “course,” “glidepath” and “sink rate” — notify the flight crew if the aircraft is exceeding predetermined speed, course or vertical descent rates.

WINDSHEAR ALERTS

Reactive windshear detection adds an additional layer of protection to the flight. Using airspeed, vertical speed and other data in the flight deck, G5000 can identify whether or not the aircraft is flying in a windshear condition and provides the appropriate caution or warning notifications for crew action.

STEEP APPROACHES

Select airports require aircraft to fly steeper than normal glidepath angles on approach to the runway. Steep approach certification2 allows the G5000 flight deck to fly these unique approaches and glidepath angles. This certification also inhibits unnecessary alerts from the TAWS while on these approaches.
